Feeling Stuck?
I was recently in a modern-day elevator where I requested to go to the 1st floor from the 22nd floor at the elevator bank using a touchscreen keypad.
The elevator arrived and I entered, expecting to get to the ground floor in a few seconds.
About 10 seconds later, I noticed that the elevator was not moving and still displayed the 22 inside the elevator. A bit perplexed, I opened the door button and the elevator opened.
I remained in the elevator, then the doors closed and I thought, what was that, now I am going to the ground floor. But instead, the elevator stood still.
Now I was a bit scared so I tried to open the doors once more, but this time they did not open. I did the next best thing, I rang the alarm and waited for about 10 seconds, the doors then flew open and I flew right out.
I was onto the game. I decided I would get out and wait for another elevator.
Why do I tell this story?
Because during that time of not being able to get to where I wanted to the ground floor, I felt lost, confused, and of course STUCK.
Most people have goals that they want to achieve, personally or professionally.
But let's face it, sometimes you get in a rut or find yourself in a place where you can't seem to get out, which often leaves you feeling stuck, just like I did when I was stuck in the elevator.
For instance, one of my coaching clients, Janice, had been trying to lose some of her menopausal weight gain for several months.
She had set an intention, had a plan in place, and just needed to start working towards her goals.
She bought new sneakers and workout outfits to start her gym membership, she had some recipes that she planned to try and was all set to go.
Janice had the best intentions, but something was holding her back.
After we started working together, she told me she simply felt stuck.
If you are feeling stuck right now, I want to encourage you to start small.
Each day, taking one step or action forward is a move in the right direction.
For example, if you want to add more movement, start by taking a 5-minute walk each day and gradually add a few minutes more over time. Add a fruit or some vegetable to at least one meal a day.
And if you still need a little more nudge, I'm a click away. Reply to this email if you just want to chat or have a quick question. Let me be your safety net (alarm button).
