Start your day with water. Drink 20-22 ounces of room temperature or warm water with ¼ or ½ lemon or 1-2 drops of lemon essential oils and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar first thing in the morning. Wait 30-45 minutes before eating or drinking tea/coffee. You can also add some turmeric. This helps with circulation as your blood is thicker when you wake up and to get bile moving taking some pressure off the liver
Start taking high quality supplements. Include multivitamins, vitamin D, magnesium, Omega fatty acid, etc.
Avoid calorie restricted diets. This will cause your body to go into starvation mode. Diets that drastically limit your calorie intake can hurt your metabolism. Eat lots of whole foods.
Use coconut oil for cooking. It helps to support your thyroid (regulates metabolism) and is very stable when cooking at high temperatures and is a better oil for cooking than olive oil.
Reduce alcohol and caffeine. Caffeine raises cortisol and blocks serotonin receptors. Alcohol is associated with estrogen dominance, and when you withdraw from even small amounts - it increases anxiety.
Effectively manage stress. This is important in controlling cortisol, blood sugar, insulin and fat storage. Prolonged stress increases cortisol, the main stress hormone which increases blood sugar and can result in insulin resistance. Insulin is a fat storage hormone and if your body produces more insulin that it needs, the excess gets stored as fat usually in the midsection. Practice the 4As of stress management:
Avoid unnecessary stressors. Learn to say NO and avoid people who cause you stress, etc.
Alter the situation. Express feelings timely instead of keeping them bottled up, and be open to compromise.
Adapt to stressors. For example, reframing problems-view stressful situations from a more positive perspective, practice gratitude, looking at the big picture.
Accept things you can change. For example, avoid trying to control things you can't control, be forgiving, be positive.
Incorporate a variety of essential oils. A regular use of certain essential oils help to reduce stress, improve sleep, boost metabolism, lose weight, and reduce cramps and PMS, etc..
