Toxin Series: Did you learn anything?

For the last six weeks, my blogs have been focused on toxins and how unassuming and dangerous they are to your health and hormones.

I hope that you found some value in the information I provided and that you were able to make some changes as a result.

I know for most of us, things do not fully resonate until we have seen, read, or be exposed to something multiple times.

I am definitely that girl.

With that said, because I want you to get this information and use it to protect and improve your health, I will summarize some of the highlights from the last six weeks.

And because I love you all to pieces:-)

Highlights from prior blogs

  • We are surrounded by toxins daily, and some are difficult to avoid.

  • Research shows that today, we are exposed to more environmental toxins in one day than our grandparents were in an entire lifetime.

  • When toxins get into our bodies, they can disrupt our endocrine system, and hormones and wreak havoc on our health, which can also contribute to various diseases later in life (e.g. cancer, auto-immune, etc.).

  • When you take in more toxins than you can eliminate either with food or lifestyle, they create waste that your body cannot use and are stored in your cells and tissues.  This leads to fat storage and weight gain as the fat cells cannot flow into your bloodstream to be used for fuel.

  • Most of the beauty products on the market contain ingredients that are harmful to your health, especially your hormones - making menopausal symptoms worse.

Common Harmful Chemicals Found in Your Beauty Products

  • Parabens

  • Phthalates (tha-leits)

  • Fragrance

  • Formaldehyde (fr mal duh haid)

  • Frequent use of hair dyes and straighteners can increase breast cancer risk in women due to the many chemicals they contain.

  • Chemicals in dyes and straighteners fall into 2 categories, carcinogens and hormone disrupters.

  • The cosmetic industry largely regulates itself, which has allowed many potentially harmful ingredients to be included in cosmetic products, including toothpaste.

  • Did you know that the U.S. only prohibits 11 synthetic ingredients in cosmetics? In stark contrast, the European Union (EU) has banned more than 1,300 ingredients and restricted another 250 compounds from being used in cosmetic products.
